The propeller shaft transmits power from the engine and transmission to the drive wheels via the axle transmission. The propeller shafts’ strength, smooth running and optimal vibration characteristics provide an important foundation for the unique drive and suspension quality of BMW Group vehicles.

Our plant is the only facility for manufacturing propeller shafts in the BMW Group's global production network. Around 1.4 million propeller shafts for 220 series variants are produced here every year for BMW Group vehicles and BMW Motorrad. Propeller shaft production specialists work closely with colleagues in drive train and chassis development. This enables new materials, design solutions, lightweight concepts and joining technologies to be incorporated into future vehicle concepts.
